CONSTRUCTION is now underway at Frasers Property Industrial’s SC1 Archerfield South East Queensland, as BMD Urban commences works at the site.
Located on the corner of Beatty and Kerry Roads, the 70,823sqm development in Brisbane’s central south industrial precinct is being constructed to match the soaring industrial and logistics needs from the city’s rising population.
“The Greater Brisbane area is experiencing a period of unprecedented population growth, which is driving demand for goods and services in the region. As last-mile delivery and ecommerce become more popular with customers, industrial estates closely located to the CBD are in high demand,” said Troy Whalan, general manager at Fraser Property Industrial Queensland.
SC1 Archerfield is set to include three warehouses with super awnings, with the facilities to include energy efficient lighting, rainwater reuse water saving fixtures and native landscaping, in order to meet the group’s sustainability benchmarks.
The development will target 5 Star Green Star Design and As-Built v1.3 certified ratings by the Green Building Council of Australia.
SC1 Archerfield is anticipated to bring in tenants in the last-mile delivery, re-emerging manufacturing and ever-expanding ecommerce sectors, with the development underpinned by its strategic infill location and placement with close access to key transport infrastructure hubs and main road corridors.
“Being located near key transportation nodes and the Brisbane Central Business District, SC1 Archerfield is well placed to serve the needs of companies operating in the South East Queensland area in offering them expedient access to workers, customers and distribution outlets,” said Whalan.
The facility sits 20km south of the Brisbane CBD, within 25km of the main Brisbane Airport and 30km of the main seaport and within close proximity of key rail infrastructure, the Acacia Ridge Marshalling Yard.
Additionally the site is placed directly across from the Archerfield Airport, the city’s secondary airport.
“It’s pleasing to see the project enter its next phase, with the construction creating hundreds of jobs in the region at a critical time,” said Whalan.
On top of generating hundreds of jobs during the construction phase of the project, SC1 Archerfield will also inject hundreds of full-time employment opportunities upon its completion.
BMD Urban has been appointed as the project’s civil contractor for both Stages 1 and 2, with practical completion of SCQ Archerfield scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022.
