ING has appointed a new head of real estate finance (REF) Australia in Darren Beatty, as Wouter Mijnen steps down from the role.
Beatty is joining ING from Westpac Institutional where he worked as a senior director of institutional real estate. Beatty brings over 20 years of experience in the banking industry, managing both institutional and corporate real estate during his career.
Before joining Westpac in 2014, Beatty worked in the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s institutional banking and markets team.
Beatty will report to Margreet Rog-Stokkink, interim head of wholesale banking Australia and to Robert Scholten, head of real estate finance, APAC.
“Commercial Real Estate is a priority growth sector for us in Australia. Darren’s depth and breadth of international and domestic experience will no doubt be an asset to the further growth of our business in Australia, the broader APAC region and beyond,” said Scholten.
In his new position Beatty will work to expand ING’s real estate franchise in Australia, as well as it’s inbound and outbound business into the Asia Pacific region more broadly.
Beatty will report to Margreet Rog-Stokkink, interim head of wholesale banking Australia and to Robert Scholten, head of real estate finance, APAC.
“Being a major Australian lender and yet part of a truly global network, ING Australia has been for years uniquely positioned to support both domestic clients onshore, and in their expansion ambitions beyond Australia,” said Rog-Stokkink.
After a five- year secondment in Australia, Mijnen, who was previously in the role, has returned to ING’s head office in Amesterdam.
