THE George Group and Pointcorp’s $250 million mixed-use project, Laguna North Lakes, has received development approval from the Moreton Bay Regional Council.
The approval will pave the way for a 1.7 hectare mixed-use project, 26kms north of the Brisbane CBD. Laguna will deliver a 138-room hotel, 10,500 sqm of A grade commercial office space, 2,000 sqm of health and wellness facilities, a 3,000 sqm ‘resort-style’ restaurant and bar, as well a 5,000 sqm of fashion, food and beverage retail precinct.
Anchoring the development will be the 3,500 sqm Laguna North Lakes convention and events centre, which will be one of the largest purpose-built venues in northern Brisbane, catering for 720 guests banquet style and 1600 standing, over two levels.
Brisbane-based architecture firm Richards and Spence have teamed up with Nettleton Tribe to design the precinct.
Construction is planned to commence in late 2018, with completion targeted for late 2020.
The George Group director Patrick George said to date there has been a wide range of local, Brisbane-based and national interest in leasing both retail and food and beverage tenancies. Interest in commercial tenancies has also been very strong.
“We are very excited that Laguna North Lakes will deliver a host of benefits for the North Lakes community that will make it quite unique to any other mixed-use precinct in a suburban context. It will become the village heart of North Lakes and the Moreton Bay region.” George said.
