VALAD has promoted Robert Howe to lead the UK real estate business and has set its sights on expanding the European funds management division.
Howe was formerly head of UK investment.
Prior to that, he was at Green Property where he was responsible for their northern operations and became a board director after the privatisation in 2001.
Howe will lead Valad’s team of 18 portfolio and development managers working out of its three UK offices, in London, Edinburgh and Leeds, where it manages a number of JVs and portfolios across its funds, including V+ UK, VOF UK, DUKE, The Industrial Trust, University Capital Trust and The Advantage Property Income Trust. Collectively these portfolios comprise approximately 1.5 million square metres of space in the UK, across nearly 300 properties with 1,500 tenants.
This appointment comes as a result of Valad’s strategy to expand its €5.1 billion investment management business across Europe.
Valad Europe CEO Marty McCarthy said over the next 12 months, Valad is also looking forward to using its established European platform to launch further funds.
