TIMBER manufacturing company Big River Group has acquired Adelaide Timber and Building Supplies (ATBS) from Rivergum Homes Group.
ATBS was established by South Australia-based Rivergum Homes Group in 2002, which will retain an equity position in Big River Group’s broader business model.
“The divestment of ATBS secures a strategic supply partner that not only adds value to ATBS, but further supports Rivergum’s growth aspirations in markets other than South Australia, namely Queensland and Victoria,” said Marc Taintey, Rivergum Homes Group chief executive officer.
“This national expansion is a significant focus for Rivergum Homes going forward, and we will remain a key commercial partner of ATBS and continue to interact on a ‘business as usual’ basis,” he added.
Big River has been involved with Australia’s timber industry for more than 100 years, and is one of the largest private timber manufacturing and marketing businesses on the eastern seaboard.
“We identified South Australia as a natural growth region to extend our sales and distribution model and ATBS, being a high-quality timber business, were a natural fit,” said Jim Bindon from Big River Group.
“We are thrilled that this acquisition signals strong growth for all the companies involved, Big River Group as we expand into South Australia, Rivergum as they expand nationwide, and ATBS as they continue to expand their client base through our networks.” Bindon said.
