THE Green Building Council of Australia has awarded Frasers Property Australia’s newly fitted-out West Perth office with a 6 Green Star rating.
The 883sqm space at level 2, 1-5 Havelock St becomes the first interior refurbishment in Western Australia to achieve the 6 Green Star – World Leadership rating, and just the second nationwide.
The Green Star Interiors program is an internationally recognised rating system that assesses the sustainability of interior fit-outs, reflected by indoor environment, energy use, carbon emissions and innovation.
“With our recent relocation to West Perth and long term lease profile, we wanted to invest in creating a vibrant, dynamic and enhanced work environment that has genuine commitments to sustainability and employee wellbeing at its core,” said Tony Perrin, general manager WA of Frasers.
Included in the fit-out are enhances fresh air ventilation systems, plant walls and planter boxes to increase oxygen availability; near floor-to-ceiling windows to maximize natural light and outside views; touch button, fully automated sit-stand desks and ergonomically selected, customizable chairs; and acoustic panelling treatments and the installation of private phone booths to reduce noise and provide privacy.
The space was designed with consultants IA Group, whilst Head contractor Built Pty Limited engaged Instant Waste Management Company to implement procedures to minimise landfill amounts and prevent contamination of waste, maximising the amount that could be recycled and resulting in 75% of the value of materials and products used in the fit-out met the requirements set out by the Green Building Council.
