CHINESE developers Wanda Ridong have awarded Brookfield Multiplex the contract to deliver the $1 billion Surfers Paradise Jewel development on the Gold Coast.
Jewelis a joint venture project between Chinese largest developers the Dalian Wanda Group and the Ridong Group.
Since its inception in 1988, the Wanda Group has grown to become the world’s largest owner of commercial property and five-star hotels, the world’s largest cinema operator and also the world’s biggest sports company. It has recently acquired the 1 Alfred St and Fairfax House buildings in Sydney.
Brookfield Multiplex regional managing director for Queensland Rod McDonald said the company was thrilled to be adding to its long history on the Gold Coast by delivering a project such as Jewel.
“Jewel will transform the skyline and beach front of the Gold Coast and deliver a welcome boost for the local economy, creating 2,700 jobs during construction and attracting international and domestic tourism and investment,” McDonald said.
Brookfield Multiple is set to begin construction within weeks.
