WESTERN Australia’s Cook government has released an expression of interest (EOI) seeking service providers to deliver outreach support services for people experiencing homelessness in the Perth.
“The outreach service will support highly vulnerable people with complex needs and assist them to transition from homelessness into safe accommodation and housing,” it said.
The restricted EOI is seeking Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCO) or registered Aboriginal businesses to deliver the service.
It is a part of the whole-of-government ACCO strategy to deliver culturally responsive and secure services that empower Aboriginal people, it said.
“The successful respondents will deliver culturally appropriate outreach and intensive support for people who are experiencing chronic rough sleeping and connect them directly with specialist support services.”
Minister for Planning, Lands, Housing and Homelessness John Carey said, “Co-ordinated outreach services play an essential role in helping people who are experiencing chronic homelessness by connecting them with intensive wrap around support services and safe accommodation or housing”.
The Cook government is investing $4.5 billion in housing and homelessness measures. It has just announced a $400 million fund to invest in critical water and power infrastructure, paving the way for thousands of new homes across Perth and regional Western Australia.
