ODYSSEY has appointed Multiplex to deliver its luxury lifestyle community care project on the Gold Coast’s Chevron Island.
The circa $127 million build has officially been appointed to Multiplex and is expected to create around 350 construction jobs over the multi-year duration of the project, in addition to over 100 jobs upon completion.
“Being a tier-one builder that’s in high demand, Multiplex is very particular when working with someone in the private sector, so this partnership really is a feather in our cap,” said Phil Usher, CEO and founder at Odyssey.
“We have an astute awareness of the demand for quality aged care within the market and this is something Multiplex understands and identifies with.”
Located between Anembo and Mawarra Streets, the 19-storey single tower development will comprise 167 apartments, with penthouse options available and additional care options for seniors.
The apartments will include one-, two- and three-bedroom configurations, with residences on Memory Lane to be dedicated to those with cognitive impairments.
“This is a special project to be part of and we are delighted to bring to life Odyssey’s vision for a world-class community for seniors,” said Glenn Robinson, regional director at Multiplex.
“Care and collaboration are core values at Multiplex, and we have worked closely with Odyssey to design an outcome that will not just bring people together, but enhance lifestyles.”
The Chevron Island development will be built based around feedback from Odyssey’s Robina community, to reflect the current living needs of seniors, as demand for both aged care and luxury living mounts.
“Since Robina opened in mid 2020, we’ve learnt a lot about seniors’ living preferences and have found many residents are keen for a variety of options when it comes to space,” said Usher.
Some of these changes and options include finding the ideal mix of retirement living and aged care, with no waiting lists and all services delivered to residents as needed from a dedicated on-site care team.
“This is a refreshing approach to what most people think aged care is, as you don’t need to be frail to live with us, and if you own your home now, affordability to live with us at Odyssey should be no problem,” added Usher.
The model is based on a resort style environment, ensuring couple are able to stay together, pets are welcome, grandchildren and family can stay over and dignity, independence and wellbeing is prioritised.
Construction on Odyssey’s Chevron Island project is currently slated for a 2025 completion.
