Colliers expanding its investment services team throughout Melbourne’s fast-growing north-west region, opening up at the Essendon Fields commercial, retail and aviation precinct developed by Max Beck and Lindsay Fox.
Travis Keenan and James Bui will operate from the new location, which will complement Colliers’ existing investment services operations out of Melbourne CBD and Chadstone, south-east offices.
“With a growing population, Melbourne’s north and west regions will continue to evolve as Greater Melbourne increasingly rebalances from its historic eastern development pattern, underpinning compelling opportunities to service this growing base,” Keenan said.
State government forecasts predict the broader north-west population will increase by 559,200 people between 2021 and 2026, reaching 1.95 million. Colliers’ industrial and logistics north-west team, currently under the leadership of Hugh Gilbert and Nick Saunders, opened an office in the area over 20 years ago.
“There has recently been a surge in investors from other states, particularly NSW, looking for more affordable opportunities in Melbourne’s west. Areas such as Hoppers Crossing, Truganina, and Tarneit have been favourable to NSW-based investors,” Keenan said.
The new team’s first listing in the area is a former post office in Glenroy put to the market on behalf of Australia Post. On 978 sqm of Commercial 1-zoned land a stone’s throw from the recently Glenroy train station, the 9-11 Post Office Place place property will go to auction on Thursday, 6th March, is expected to attract interest in excess of $2 million.
