CHILDREN’S healthcare charity, Royal Far West (RFW), has appointed global construction company Multiplex to deliver its luxurious apartments project Aurora on the Manly beachfront.
RFW, a century-long-running charity for rural NSW children with health and developmental problems, has brought children and their families to Manly for treatment, while it has also pioneered telehealth services to remote areas.
The accommodation at Aurora will be for country families and comprise 58 apartments across two buildings, ranging from one to three bedrooms. RFW received the green light for the project at the end of 2022, realising plans first proposed nearly a decade earlier.
Aurora is designed by architects Glenn Murcutt AO and Angelo Candalepas, complemented interior design studio, Carr, and the landscape expertise of Jane Irwin Landscape Architecture.
“The development of its land is a bold new approach to future proof the sustainability of the charity and its ability to gift vital paediatric health services in response to the growing needs of country children and families unavailable to access vital services in the bush,” RFW’s board chairman, Joan Treweeke OAM said,
“The development will enable the charity to increase its generous work for country kids in need, as well as future-proof its service for the next 100 years.”
NSW Minister for Health, Ryan Park announced last month a funding boost of $369,000 to RFW.
In addition to Aurora, the Manly development will feature retail, commercial, and lifestyle-related spaces and serve the local Manly community as a quality guest house.
Multiplex’s NSW regional managing director, David Ghannoum, said, “As a significant member of Manly’s community, we understand RFW are cautious custodians of this important beachfront site and we’re grateful they’ve put their trust in us.”
The development is being supported by ANZ.
Aurora was launched to the market in May last year. A limited number of apartments remain for sale through Belle Property Manly and Colliers International.
Construction is expected to finish in 2026.
