PAYTON Capital has appointed former senior MaxCap brass Mark Heaven as its chief operating officer.
Heaven brings over 25 years of experience in finance, strategy, operations, governance, and accounting to Payton. He joins the business from his most recent position as COO at MaxCap, one of Australia’s largest investment managers specialising in providing debt and equity solutions to commercial real estate (CRE) developers.
Under Heaven, MaxCap’s funds under management surged from $150 million to $7 billion.
Heaven has also occupied leadership positions in prominent retail and wholesale funds management firms, including Aviva, Colonial, Herschel Asset Management, Perennial Investment Partners, and EMR Capital.
David Payton, CEO at Payton Capital, said an appointment the calibre of Heaven is a “significant update for the business”.
“Mark is very well regarded within the private CRE debt industry, and we are excited to have him on board,” said Payton.

Heaven’s responsibilities at Payton will encompass the oversight of the corporate and investment operations platform, IT, inclusive of cyber-security, and people and culture, and ESG initiatives.
