METRO Property Development has sold its retail neighbourhood centre development site in Bingara Gorge to Coles.
Located at 30 Pembroke Parade in Wilton, around 80km south of Sydney, Wollondilly Shire Council approved a development application in June 2023 for a full-line supermarket, speciality stores, convenient car parking and click and collect services on the site.
“Metro made the strategic decision to sell the development site to Coles to reinforce the company’s commitment to community development and confidence in Coles’ ability to enhance Bingara Gorge’s convenience retail offering,” said Luke Hartman, managing director at Metro.
“Metro and Coles’ shared vision is to deliver a high-quality retail asset for the community in the growing Wilton 2040 NSW priority growth precinct. The addition of Coles will provide convenient access to groceries and the diverse amenities will contribute to a high quality of life for residents.”
Throughout the construction of the centre an estimated 100 jobs will be created, with more than 100 permanent positions expected upon completion.
“Coles is always excited to deliver world-class supermarkets that serve the local community. We continue to focus on property developments where there are good retail, supermarket outcomes,” said Fiona Mackenzie, general manager of property at Coles.
“This development represents a multimillion-dollar investment for Bingara Gorge, offering the community more choice, great value and an enhanced shopping experience.”
The site is centrally positioned within the estate and boasts direct links with walk and cycle paths, with the precinct sitting a short walk from Wilton Public School, Bingara Gorge Golf Course, bus stops, playgrounds and a medical centre.
