FROM humble beginnings as a small NSW South Coast real estate and property agency, valuation agency Walsh & Monaghan is this year celebrating its 100th year in business.
Established in 1923, only years after national carrier Qantas, by South Coast residents Ulrick Walsh and Stan Monaghan and the firm has grown to become a formidable property valuation firm with representations across NSW and specialist services interstate.
The firm has grown two people in one office on the South Coast to more than 35 highly skilled and experienced valuers and support staff across four locations in NSW.
“100 years is a major milestone and something we’re very proud of – especially as a business with strong regional roots,” said Walsh & Monaghan director Darren Austin, who is himself based in Nowra.
“Walsh & Monaghan demonstrates that an organisation can provide best-in-class services for metro areas and further afield, whilst still being based in regional Australia.”
At the heart of the Walsh & Monaghan story has been the enduring value placed in its people across the organisation. Each of the five directors spent over 20 years at firm.

As an independent firm, it has achieved ISO certification.
“The industry has changed considerably in 100 years, especially with the type of valuations,” Austin said.
“But one thing that hasn’t changed is what our clients value most about the way we do business: being thorough, fair and professional in everything we do.”
