HOMES for Homes is opening a new round of funding with up to $300,000 available across the ACT and South Australia, to help deliver social and affordable housing projects.
The latest grant funding round will open on Monday 16 October 2023, with $200,000 to be available in the Australian Capital Territory and $100,000 in South Australia.
Established by the Big Issue, Homes for Homes is helping address homelessness by raising funds for social and affordable housing through donations from properties.
With owners and renters registering their property with Homes for Homes and promising to donate 0.1% of their sale price or rent to increase social and affordable housing in their area.
“Homes for Homes is pleased to be opening our seventh grant round to help with the creation of social and affordable housing. This latest grant round extends our support to South Australia for the first time and continues support in our nation’s Capital,” said Steven Persson, CEO at Homes for Homes.
“Homes for Homes is a whole-of-community approach. The commitment of our partners and those who have registered their homes is what helps us carry out our mission of providing safe, secure housing for all. We look forward to doing this again with our new grant round.”
Support from property donors, PEXA and the Homes for Homes community, has enabled funds to be raised to grant to housing providers in South Australia for the first time and fifth time in the Australian Capital Territory.
This is the seventh round of grants released to community housing projects by Homes for Homes, with previous round seeing a total of $1.8 million in funding granted across 21 social and affordable housing projects across Vic, NT, Qld, NSW, WA and the ACT.
Upon completion, these projects will provide housing for over 350 people.
“We are open to all applications, any organisation that can create social and affordable housing is encouraged to apply,” added Persson.
The funding round opens on Monday 16 October and closes on Friday 10 November.
