REA Group has appointed Steve Maidment to the role of chief technology officer and as a member of its executive leadership team.
Maidment will join REA Group at its Richmind headquarters in Melbourne in October, and be responsible for leading the group’s technology strategy and development, and he and his team will be responsible for the platforms that underpin REA’s products, services and operations
Maidment has over 25 years’ experience in technology and digital roles, and joins REA Group from Auto Trader based in Toronto, Canada, where he has held the role of senior vice president and chief digital officer since 2018.
Prior to that, he held the role of chief digital officer at CrownBet and general manager, digital channels at Australia Post. Steve has also previously held Director and Senior Management roles at Phoenix Digital and Telstra.
In August last year, REA Group chief technology officer Chris Venter had to take medical leave from his role after a severe accident, with Craig Templeton acting in the role in the interim. Upon Steve’s commencement, Templeton will return to his role as chief information security officer and general manager technology and data platforms.
