THE Australian Pharmaceutical Industries’ (API) new $50 million fulfilment centre in Berrinba, Queensland is now underway, in partnership with TMX Global and Charter Hall.
The 30,000sqm facility will be equipped with the latest in automation technology and will be centrally located 100 metres from the Logan Motorway and 2km from the Gateway Motorway interchange in Charter Hall’s Motorway Industrial Park.
The new supply chain investment will take the place of the current Bundamba site in order to support the region’s growing population.
The centre will supply pharmaceuticals as far north as Weipa, as far inland as Mt Isa and as far south as Coffs Harbour.
“I’m really pleased that we’ve been able to partner with TMX Global and Charter Hall on this project,” said Doug Swan, executive general manager of wholesale pharmacy services for API.
“Once operational, the site will be capable of shipping out up to 2 million items per week, supporting the pharmaceutical needs of approximately 1.9 million residents.”
API was acquired by Wesfarmers in 2022 as the foundational asset for Wesfarmers Health, and since has partnered with end-to-end supply chain and property experts, TMX Global, along with site owner Charter Hall.
“One of the trends we’re seeing for businesses looking to grow and expand is that the flexibility required to do business on-ground means property solutions are no longer just four walls and a roof,” said Jack Moroney, director at TMX.
“We have represented API on several projects in recent years and the overriding goal has always been to ensure the real estate solutions align with the core business objectives of API now and into the future. This will deliver an operating model that allows their business to flex through the design of the asset as required and achieve their growth targets,”
Mitre 10, CEVA, QLS, and Forest One have also all recently committed to Charter Hall’s Motorway Industrial Park.
Australian Pharmaceutical Industries’ new fulfilment centre is set to be completed by 2024.
