ARCHITECTS SJB’s Sydney studio has appointed Hamish Ginn and Jack Gillmer into two new leadership positions within the practice.
Architect and proud Worimi-Biripi Guri, Jack Gillmer, has been promoted to associate, First Nations lead. In this role, he will lead and facilitate caring, designing, and connecting with First Nations on projects, develop frameworks and methodologies to establish processes that are respondent to Country, and empower First Nations’ community Voice, collaboration, and co-design throughout SJB’s work.
“The duality of this position reflects the responsibilities that exist for me both culturally and within the built environment. It is an acknowledgement of our cultural obligation to care for Country in the work we do as design practitioners,” Gillmer said.
“The intersection of cultural knowledge and the urban fabric is a space of endless potential. I‘m excited about the opportunities this will provide at SJB, enabling us to collectively strive for the empowerment and self-determination of our mobs.”
Architect Hamish Ginn has been promoted to senior associate, people and culture specialist, a new role focused on further supporting the studio’s team of architects and designers.
He will lead career advancement and personal development, assist new parents in navigating returning to work, and on-site mental health support for the studio.
“This new role will strengthen the studio’s values and guiding principles, it’ll help sustain SJB’s profile as an employer that values studio culture and nurtures its staff,” Ginn said.
