COMMERCIAL real estate financier MaxCap Group has appointed a new head of research in Bruce Wan.
The commercial real estate strategist is bringing more than 25 years of experience in economic and investment analysis with a focus on real estate market research.
Wan is joining MaxCap from BlackRock, where he was the head of real asset research for the Asia Pacific region, based predominately in Hong Kong for the past five years.
Prior to his time at BlackRock, Wan was an associate director at Macquarie Bank in Sydney for nine years, working in a client facing role, providing research and strategic advice to global pension and sovereign wealth funds.
He has also held senior economics roles at Queensland Investment Corporation and Commonwealth Treasury.
“Investors onshore and offshore are increasingly engaged with the Australian commercial real estate investment market,” said Rob Hattersley, group head of capital.
“Bruce’s experience and insights will further enhance our proposition and inform their understanding of this market, asset class and opportunities that exist for risk adjusted returns.”
At MaxCap, Wan will head up the research function, supporting the business and product strategy.
He will provide economic and commercial real estate market insights and strategic perspectives to investors globally, supporting the capital origination and institutional mandate management team.
Bruce will be based in Sydney, commencing on 1 March and will report to Hattersley, who was appointed back in October of 2022.
While more recently MaxCap announced three appointments to its Australian and New Zealand team this month in Greg Scott, Angus Simpson and Anna Kaur.
