FAMILIES dreading the holiday season amid food uncertainty will soon have some help to lean on with the introduction of a food drive launched by Compass Offices and Foodbank Australia.
The office space provider is seeking to make a difference to a number of families dealing with financial turmoil in these challenging times with the food drive.
Melbournians and Sydneysiders have been hit the hardest in recent years as the cost-of-living continues to plague families and the introduction of this initiative can hopefully provide some relief.
Compass Offices has a strong presence within Melbourne and Sydney, with 4 business locations in each city.
They have partnerships with two offices of Foodbank Australia – Foodbank Victoria and Foodbank NSW & ACT with Foodbank holding the reputation as the largest hunger relief charity in Australia.
A good system of food donation collection points will be in order, across key locations in Melbourne’s central business district (CBD) and Docklands, and within Sydney’s CBD and North Sydney. The company wants to do what it can to make a difference to those struggling week-to-week and day-to-day where they can.
Uncertainty of how much food they can afford or will have for the week is a scary concern for families daily, with rents and mortgage rates constantly rising. The company invites all its clients and partners in Melbourne and Sydney and communities of both cities to partake in the campaign.
Country manager of Compass Offices in Australia Andrew Rothstadt amplifies the importance of giving and sharing to help others more in need.
“Food insecurity affects many Australians, and a large number of households in Australia has been struggling to earn sufficient money for buying daily supplies. As an enterprise adhering to a principle of care and love, we do wish to contribute what we can do to help those in dire straits,” he said.
“Let’s make our efforts count. May our donations make a difference in Australia!”
General public in Melbourne and Sydney can donate food from their shelves that are still in date and unopened with all appropriate labels still printed. Canned fruit, vegetables, soups, seafood and meals, pasta, noodles, rice, juice, milk are some of the highly desired items for the food drive. Some non-food items are also appreciated for those in need of essential items such as shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, tissues and toilet paper.
Distribution and delivery will be arranged by Foodbank Australia, with collection points open at all Compass Offices business centres in Melbourne and Sydney between now and 19 December 2022.
