ARCHITECTURE and design studio Architectus has appointed a new principal and national sector leader for defence, Ralph Williams, while principal Mark Mitcheson-Low moves into a new role as national leader strategic projects.
Williams brings over 20 years’ experience leading a range of defence and government planning, including Department of Defence projects, and design and construction projects.
He will spearhead the sector’s national growth by drawing on Architectus’ cross-sector expertise in workplace, aviation, rail, science and research, education, urban planning, residential, and interiors to deliver a unified client offer.
Williams’ international experience developing and delivering built infrastructure includes Air 5428 Pilot Training Systems, Victoria Barracks Redevelopment Melbourne, and most recently the Riverina Redevelopment Program.
Architectus CEO, Ray Brown said, “Ralph is a recognised leader in the defence sector and has delivered design solutions for some of the largest and most technically complex defence projects in the country.
“His expertise will be instrumental to building the sector and we look forward to working with him to design the next generation of defence infrastructure in Australia.”
Williams said, “I’m looking forward to leveraging Architectus’ experience across all sectors to align with the diverse needs of the Australian Defence Force – whether it’s designing offices, living accommodation, data centres, training and learning facilities, or aviation and health facilities, I’m confident that we can position Architectus at the forefront of this vital sector.”
Meanwhile, Architectus principal Mark Mitcheson-Low, who established the company’s Perth studio and national defence sector, moves into a new role as national leader strategic projects.
