THE Australian Property Institute is holding its 2022 National Board election. The API is urging members to cast their vote and help shape the future of the Institute.
Bart Mead is one of the candidates seeking to be elected to the national board of the API.
- What is your interest to come on board with the Australian Property Institute?
I have been on the API Board for the past four years and believe the API has made real strides forward in representing its members at a much higher level and becoming a ‘Go To’ for our clients and Government bodies on property matters and I would like to be there to ensure we can consolidate our position and then develop it further.
- What financial experience or expertise do you bring to the API?
For the past thirty years I have and do run businesses with full control of P&L’s, as well as being on a number of other Boards and Finance committees.
- What governance experience do you bring to the API?
I have or do serviced on seven boards, ranging from NFP to Financial Institutions, where Governance has been critical and a major part of the responsibility of the Directors.
- What strategic planning experience do you bring to the API?
Practical experience, being part of the building of one Australia’s largest Valuation firms, while dealing with the GFC. Currently building a business that is now supporting JLL’s Valuation and Advisory business across 18 Countries.
- To further pursue API’s strategic direction, it would be of great benefit if prospective Directors could contribute advocacy, policy and/or digital communications experience to the Board. What is your experience in one or more of these areas?
I believe we all (all members) have a duty to advocate for our profession, I have done this my entire career and will continue to make it a focus of the API. I see data digital(not so much communication) a massive part of our professions future and constantly strive to ensure our profession embraces the potential of data and digital to ensure not just our relevance but the growth of our profession.
- In general, what can you bring to the API and why should members elect you?
I would like to believe by serving another term, I will bring stability and consistency to the API board, as if I am re-elected I will become the longest serving Director on the board during this term.
