FORMER Wallabies captain Philip Kearns will take over as CEO of home builder AVJennings from outgoing chief Peter Summers in the new year.
The company last month announced longstanding CEO Summers would step down as part of a succession plan that the residential developer will implement to fill the top role while it undertakes a strategic growth program.
In August the reported its best full-year result since 2018, buoyed by higher contract signings and presales.
Kearns has been a non-executive director of AVJennings for the past two years and has had a relationship with the company going back over a decade.
“His knowledge of the company and its operations was considered invaluable when compared to other outstanding candidates presented by the leading senior executive search company who undertook a detailed review of potential candidates,” AVJennings said.
Kearns will transition into the role from 10th January ahead of Summers’ retirement at the end of March.
“Phil Kearns brings the quality and leadership that fits very well with the board’s strategic direction for the company. He is known both within and outside the group and his wide network of contacts will be a great asset to the company,” chairman Simon Cheong said.
