AUSTRALIAN Unity’s property business has appointed Melissa Hillebrand to the role of general manager – equity origination.
Hillebrand will be responsible for the equity and growth agendas of Australian Unity’s portfolio of mortgages, commercial property, healthcare and social infrastructure.
She joins from AMP Capital, where she spent eight years in senior institutional business development roles raising significant equity across a range of asset classes including real estate and infrastructure.
Prior to AMP Capital, she spent eight years in London in client facing roles at a fund of hedge funds and the Australian High Commission. She holds an MBA and a Graduate Diploma in Organisational leadership from Melbourne Business School a Bachelor of Economics (Accounting Major) from Monash University and is a Fellow of FINSIA and the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Mark Pratt, Australian Unity’s executive general manager – property said Hillebrand’s appointment comes at a time of growth for the business.
“Melissa is a highly experienced institutional business development leader, having held local and global positions for financial institutions and the Australian High Commission in London, and it is exciting to have attracted someone of her calibre to the team.
“Her strong record of building excellent cross functional relationships will be fundamental in sourcing capital and identifying appropriate equity opportunities to advance our strategic growth ambitions.” Pratt said.
Hillebrand said she was attracted to Australian Unity’s purpose as a well-being organisation, and the breadth of the property platform capabilities including in the aligned areas of healthcare and social infrastructure and is motivated by the opportunity to leverage her local and global equity raising experience and strong stakeholder management skills.
