THE Real Estate Institute of Victoria is searching for a new chief executive officer after Gil King announced his resignation.
King will complete his five-year tenure at the end of December 2021. President Leah Calnan said over the past five years, he has astutely navigated an often complex operating environment, working through a raft of sector-impacting legislative changes and new regulations.
“Within a challenging landscape, Gil has been able to sow seeds for our evolving organisation so that it is ready to grow through its next phase. For example, Gil has been instrumental in establishing a much stronger financial foundation for the REIV – today, the REIV counts more than 80% of agencies in Victoria as members, and at every stage of his work across the industry’s myriad stakeholders, he has put the best interests of our members front-and-centre,” she added.
King reflected that the time was right for change, professionally and personally.
“I had always considered that five years in this important role was an appropriate tenure and that it would be my final formal leadership post,” he said. “I exit proud of what we have achieved as a team and sector and I am excited about a quieter future,”.
The REIV has established a national search to find his replacement.
