STAGE one of Southbank’s new $2.8 billion Melbourne Square mixed-use development has been completed by Multiplex.
OSK Property’s Melbourne Square, which is situated in the centre of Southbank, bound by Power Street, Kavanagh Street and Balston Street, will become one of the largest mixed-use precincts in the city and has already received two awards at the International Property Awards.
The $490 million stage one of the project saw the completion of a 54 and 69 level COX-designed residential tower, for a total of 1,043 residential apartments.
The towers share an eight-level terraced podium, with 3,700sqm of public space, including parklands and a retail precinct.

Since construction commenced in November of 2017, 2,926 workers have been employed on the site.
Additionally, around 51,000 cubic metres of concrete was utilising in the delivery of the first stage.
With 13,642 panels of glass being used in the pleated exterior design and gymnasiums on levels eight and 54, as well a 48m lap pool, Melbourne Square will offer first class amenities.
With six towers ranging from 38 to 73 levels, the completed precinct will be comprised of will include four residential towers, a 621-room hotel and a 52,000sqm commercial office tower.
So far in 2021, Multiplex has been appointed to construct projects including the Joondaloop Health Campus, a $300 million Cbus Property office development in Adelaide and the Mosman High School upgrade project in Sydney. In addition to completing projects such as the La Trobe University timber student housing accommodation.
Upon completion the precinct will include four total residential towers, which will deliver more than 2,610 apartments, with amenities such as a retail centre, dining precinct, childcare centre and the public parklands featuring water features and piazzas.
