THE Housing Industry Association (HIA) has elected Alwyn Even from ABN Group as national president and Debbie Johnson from Building Suncoast Green as vice president.
Even is a highly respected builder starting his career as teenager in 1975. Since 1995, he has been actively involved in the HIA in Western Australia, serving as a member of the Regional Executive Committee, Chair of the Regional Technical Committee, Vice President and President (2003 – 2005). He was also the Chair of the National Technical Committee for six years (2007-2013).
In May 2013 he was elected to HIA’s national board of directors and took up the position of Vice President in 2019.
Johnson is a highly experienced designer and builder, and has run her business for 35 years. She was appointed as the Queensland regional president in 2013 and appointed to the national board in 2017.
The board thanked outgoing president Simon Norris for his contribution over the two years, particularly the last 12 months as the housing industry faced unprecedented challenges including natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Finally David Morris from Simmons Wolfhagen in Tasmania has been elected to fill the vacancy on the national board created by the departure of past national president, Pino Monaco.
