AUSTRALIAN independent book retailer Readings has seen it all in the past 50 years. In the first decade of the 21st century it stared down the US’ second largest bookstore chain Borders.
Borders withdrew from Australia 2011, but it was only the first of many challenges faced by Australian independent bricks and mortar book sellers.
Readings has adapted to the changing environment brought on by online retailing, and it now has seven stores across Melbourne.
