THE first stage of the APH City Park has received approval, which will deliver 35,000 sqm of office space in Melbourne’s east as more companies and governments back flexible and suburban workplace hubs.
Situated at the major corridor of Burwood Highway and Springvale Road, the APH City Park Commercial will deliver 35,000 sqm of office space over six levels with an end value of $280 million.
APH Holding national director of commercial and retail Jaycen Willox said the company’s vision for APH City Park is closer to being realised after receiving the permit.
“We look forward to the exciting next steps in this project that will bring thousands of jobs to a growing area of Melbourne city,” he added.
This is the first stage of the multi-staged development which totals more than $1 billion in investment. It is already home to major corporate and technology clients such as Hewlett Packard Enterprise, HP Inc., NEC, Pronto Software, PAN Software, Bolton Clarke and Hamilton Morello.
APH City Park will incorporate retail and shops; food and entertainment and a supermarket.
Willox said APH City Park Commercial makes the commute to work simple and flexible with a range of initiatives including electric car charge points, 247 sqm bicycle parking and 5-star ESD.
The approval of APH City Park Commercial comes as demand for suburban office hubs increases in the post-COVID world as more workers prefer to work closer to home rather than commute into the CBD.
This week the Victorian government announced investments towards five suburban hubs.
The government said the suburban hubs is “backing flexible work arrangements and local economies” which will have capacity for “as many as 2,380 office-based public servants a week working in their local areas – closer to home”.
The first of the hubs is already operational in the western suburb of Footscray. Hubs in Williams Landing and Mulgrave will be opened before the end of June with two others to follow.
“It strikes the right balance between supporting the continued recovery of Melbourne’s CBD while ensuring local suburban and regional areas don’t lose the gains they have made from VPS employees working closer to home,” the government said.
