THE world’s largest flexible workspace provider, IWG has appointed Jonathan Kearins as network development director for the company’s Australia and New Zealand operations.
Kearins will be responsible for leading and delivering the network growth of IWG locations in Australia and New Zealand. This includes communicating the growth in the flexible work market, strengthening IWG’s pipeline of growth opportunities for each of IWG’s flexible workspace brands, and developing new locations throughout the region.
IWG operates the Regus and Spaces brands, and currently has 96 locations in Australia and New Zealand. In 2020 it opened Spaces Riparian Plaza in Brisbane, Spaces 60 Martin Place in Sydney and Spaces Two Melbourne Quarter.
Last year, it also inked its first franchise deal in Australia, in partnership with the Adams Group. The deal will see IWG expand throughout northern Queensland, adding 10 centres under the Regus brand.
IWG is looking for further growth in Australia and New Zealand through its new franchise model, and in opportunities throughout regional cities and suburban areas.
“IWG is currently working actively with franchise partners to capitalise on the growing demand in the flexible workspace industry outside of core CBDs, as the adoption of flexible working culture accelerates in Australia and people move to work closer from home,” it said.
Kearins has business development leadership roles with several global property and flexible workspace providers including Aqualand, Colliers and WeWork. More recently, he was general manager and special projects leader at Aqualand Flexible Workplace, where he developed the strategy for the group’s flexible workplace product.
Country head for IWG in Australia, Damien Sheehan said Kearins’ appointment reflected the growing demand for flexible workplaces across Australia and New Zealand.
“As a veteran in the property industry, Jonathan comes with a wealth of expertise, passion and long-standing relationships within the landlord, occupier and broker communities,” he said.
