RETAIL specialist Mainbrace Constructions has been appointed by Queensland-based development manager DMA Partners and owner JMK Retail to construct the new Yamanto Central retail development in Ipswich.
Over 500 jobs are expected to be created during construction.
A Coles supermarket and Kmart will anchor Yamanto Central, which will house around 50 specialty stores across 20,000 sqm, with an emphasis on quality food and beverage options in a deluxe outdoor dining precinct.
Local infrastructure upgrades, including extensive roadworks, are a key component of the project. Yamanto Central will include on grade car parking and undercover parking for 750 cars.
Mainbrace’s involvement in the greenfield project south west of Brisbane and in the high growth area of Ipswich, adjacent to Amberley air base, began in 2017.
The company worked with DMA Partners and JMK Retail in an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) capacity, a process which ensures the concept design is build-ready and within budget on account of the builder being involved earlier in the design process.
JMK Retail general manager, Vicki Leavy said JMK Retail said Yamanto Central’s trade area consists of 48,000 under-serviced potential customers.
Mainbrace recently signed nearly $90 million of new retail work in the state, with new projects for Charter Hall at Atherton, a new food store at Indooroopilly, Home Co at Springfield and the re-purposing of a former Masters bulky goods property at Everton Park.
The group recently completed the base build for the new Aldi supermarket at Tweed Mall, refurbishment of a Woolworths supermarket also at Yamanto, and a new neighbourhood centre with a supermarket and speciality stores for Coles at Rochedale.
It is currently working on a new Aldi supermarket, soon to open in Allenstown.
