URBIS has appointed town planner Bruce Colman as a director.
Colman brings over 25 years experience and was the former director of land release at the NSW Department of Planning Industry and Environment.
He also undertaken work in United Kingdom and Europe, including the preparation of the European Union policies on Environmental Impact Assessment and worked on the expansion of port facilities for the oil and gas industry in Northern Scotland and shipping facilities in Northern Ireland. He was also involved in the master planning along the Sydney Harbour Foreshore, which has helped to secure its character as an iconic area of Sydney.
Urbis Western Sydney director Murray Donaldson said he was delighted with the appointment.
“Bruce brings a wealth of experience in the land release program across Western Sydney gained over many years.
“With his strong planning skills, and deep knowledge of government processes in relation to rezoning land and co-ordination of infrastructure, we are excited that Bruce has joined the Urbis team to partner with our clients and help shape Western Sydney for the better future,” he added.
Colman believes there is a real opportunity to plan for infrastructure ahead of growth as can be seen in the implementation of the Aerotropolis Land Use and Infrastructure Implementation Plan.
“Sydney has recently witnessed some great initiatives in relation to Strategic Planning and setting the framework for growth. We can now see the Greater Sydney Commission’s wider vision and District Plans being translated into Precinct Plans,” he added. “Within Urbis I see an exciting opportunity to work from the new Parramatta office to provide strategic advice to clients in relation to land release and growth in Western Sydney. Urbis has a wide range of skills and services which are well placed to meet the needs of a rapidly growing region.”
