CIMIC Group’s construction business CPB Contractors has won the NZ$221 million contract to deliver Auckland Airport’s new expansion.
Works include construction of an additional taxiway, extension of an existing taxiway and six remote stands with in-ground jet fuel reticulation, as part of a major expansion at New Zealand’s largest and busiest airport.
CIMIC Group CEO Michael Wright said New Zealand remains an important focus for the company.
“The Auckland Airport works are an important addition to our strong portfolio of transport and social infrastructure projects across the country,” he added.
Works include 900,000 cubic metres of earthworks, laying 130,000 cubic metres of aggregate basecourse, 168,000 square metres of concrete pavement, construction of 3,200m stormwater drainage system, runoff and treatment lagoon, and a 2,200m in-ground jet fuel network.
The project is expected to be completed by October 2021.
