LITTLE Projects has awarded Hickory the $105 million contract to build Melbourne’s first Hyatt Centric hotel.
Little Projects appointed Hickory following the companies’ partnership on ILK South Yarra and Central South Yarra, while the developments adds to the builder’s current projects that includes New Chadstone Hotel and Peppers King Square.
The Hyatt Centric brand looks to “connect savvy explorers and travellers who want to be in the middle of the action”.
Designed by Architectus and Hecker Guthrie Interiors, the 278-room Hyatt Centric Melbourne will be built on the corner of Flinders Street and Downie Street. The building’s exterior will feature a six-level podium, backed by a 20-storey glass tower.
The hotel will feature a pool, gym and steam room, convention and conference facilities, restaurant and rooftop bar.
Little Projects purchased the site for $28.6 million in 2017 with an existing permit, but altered the design to instead offer a hotel within the approved envelope.
Hyatt Centric Melbourne is expected to open in 2021.
