THE Property Council’s Western Australia division has appointed Scott Nugent, AMP Capital’s WA divisional development manager, as the new president.
Nugent has worked in Perth for eight years and has been a divisional councillor with the PCA for six years. Before moving to Western Australia, he was a project and development director for Hong Kong’s largest real estate investment trust, The Link REIT; and previously worked for Macquarie Bank and Lendlease.
He takes over the presidency from Tanya Trevisan, the chief operating officer of Iris Residential and executive director of Tribis, whose two-year term ended this month.
Nugent paid tribute to Trevisan’s successful tenure, noting she was the first female leader to fill the role in the division’s history, and playing an instrumental role in establishing the new independent statutory body, Infrastructure WA.
PCA WA executive director Sandra Brewer also paid tribute to Trevisan.
“We thank Trevisan for her advocacy, especially in planning and governance,” she said. “Tanya is a true champion for property and its important role in the community.”
Trevisan was also a driving force for a major Mission Australia fundraiser, which raised $80,000 for the Christmas in the Park lunch and a domestic violence refuge in Meekatharra.
Nugent said Perth is poised for a new period of city-shaping growth, underpinned by major infrastructure investments, in particular, METRONET.
“Western Australia’s property industry has faced challenging times but we are on the right track. We want to maintain that positive path with appropriate investment and good governance.
“I am passionate about real estate, not only as a major jobs generator for the nation, but also because it can create positive change for communities. It is a dynamic and ever-changing industry. I am honoured to accept this appointment from my peers,” he added.
