MULTIPLEX has completed the $81 million Biomedical Learning and Teaching Building for Monash University at its Clayton campus in Melbourne’s south-east.
The Denton Corker Marshall-designed L-shaped building spans four levels and will provide 11,400 sqm of space for biomedical science students.
It is presented as a series of interlocking cuboid blocks known as “flexi labs”, which wrap around a central glazed satellite area with smaller-scale spaces, and the four laboratories can be combined to provide a larger space for up to 240 students.
The building has also been designed and built to achieve a Green Star 5-star Design and Build rating.
Multiplex completed the $206 million, 30,000 sqm Learning and Teaching Building at Monash University in 2017, which encompasses an underground carpark and regional transport interchange, as well as the Monash University’s $145 million student accommodation precinct in 2016.
