STRUGGLING department store Myer has appointed Lyndsey Cattermole as non-executive director, hoping to utilise her IT background to revive its fortunes as e-commerce and logistics evolutions present ongoing challenges for bricks-and-mortar retailers.
The group posted a $486 million loss for the 2018 financial year, its first since listing on the ASX in 2009.
“Lyndsey will bring tremendous IT skills to our multi-channel offering, and we will benefit from her vast experience,” Myer chairman, Garry Hounsell said.
“Lyndsey is one of the most successful businesswomen and entrepreneurs in Australia, and I am delighted that she is joining the Myer board. She brings leading industry experience and is respected across a range of industries.”
Cattermole founded IT major player Aspect Computing, which specialised in IT consulting and program development, including retail and training, and operated for almost thirty years before being sold to ASX-listed KAZ Group.
Aspect Computing developed international award winning systems and created one of Australia’s biggest software product exports, LANSA.
Cattermole’s has held board positions at companies in a range of industries, including at Foster’s Group Ltd, Treasury Wine Estates Ltd, Tatts Group Ltd and the Victorian Major Events Corporation, and is currently a director of Pact Group Holdings Ltd, Florey Neurosciences, PlayersVoice and the Melbourne Rebels.
She has also held positions on the Federal Government’s Electronic, Electrical and Information Industry Board and the Prime Minister’s Science and Engineering Council, and has been awarded an Order of Australia.
