CONSTRUCTION has started on the first stage of Eastern Creek Quarter (ECQ), with developer Frasers Property Australia working with retailers and operators to deliver a new shopping destination in Sydney’s west.
Suellen Fitzgerald, executive director – Western Sydney Parklands Trust was joined by Peri Macdonald, executive general manager – retail, Frasers Property Australia to turn the first sod on the project.
ECQ will be a super-neighbourhood centre, anchored by a full-line 3,800 sqm Woolworths supermarket and BWS liquor store. Stage 1 is expected to open in late 2019, comprising Woolworths and BWS plus a pharmacy, gym, childcare centre, medical centre and vibrant Street Food precinct.
Frasers Property will lodge a DA for stage two of ECQ which will incorporate large format retail, including some exciting new retailers. Stages one and two have an estimated on-completion value of circa $95 million and will cover approximately 22,000 sqm.
Frasers Property is also planning stages three and four at ECQ.
Macdonald said the vision for ECQ is to combine a vibrant mix of shops, dining, entertainment options and community spaces to deliver a place for people to create memorable experiences.
“We’re excited to have Woolworths on board and we are looking to partner with recreational, food and experience operators to create a centre the local community can really engage with and be proud of.
“ECQ will bring something new to the area, including a casual style food precinct showcasing exciting international cuisines to provide a unique dining experience. It’s great to be on site and underway,” he added.
In late 2016, Frasers Property was awarded exclusive development rights to the 15ha site in Eastern Creek and has collaborated closely with Western Sydney Parklands Trust (WSPT) to progress plans for ECQ. The company has a long-standing relationship with WSPT, having previously delivered the 100ha Eastern Creek Industrial Estate.
