DEFENCE Housing Australia has started work on the 1,100 lot master-planned community on the Schofields Aerodrome site in Sydney’s growing north-west region.
Now known as Akuna Vista, the project will deliver 1,100 residential lots, with plans for the construction of approximately 200 homes for defence members and their families.
The remaining land lots will be available to the public over several sales releases.
DHA chair J.A.L. (Sandy) Macdonald said the proposed master plan for Akuna Vista features a new retail precinct, alongside a new school and sporting and recreational facilities — including 40 netball courts, tennis courts and two multi-purpose fields for AFL, rugby, cricket and soccer — helping to bring to fruition Blacktown City Council’s vision to deliver world class recreational facilities to the community.
“This important project will provide much needed supply to the Sydney housing market and improve housing affordability in a priority growth area.
“It will also deliver jobs for the region during construction, along with future local jobs through the proposed retail, education and sporting facilities.” Macdonald said.
