CONSTRUCTION has started on the first stage of the Skygate Home & Life Centre, located at the entrance to Brisbane Airport.
With 70% of showroom space now pre-committed to brands including Nick Scali, Pillowtalk, James Lane, Lighting Illusions and DecoRug, the centre is being developed on the western side of the existing Direct Factory Outlet (DFO) centre, with stage one comprising up to 9,260 sqm of retail and 300 on-grade car parking spaces. An adjacent multi-level car park for 1,000 vehicles was recently completed to accommodate the precinct’s future growth.
The new centre will also directly service the onsite commercial precinct of 460 businesses and 23,000 workers, in addition to a catchment population of more than one million within a 30-minute drive.
BAC general manager of commercial businesses John Tormey said the new centre reflected the airport’s growth as a vibrant retail, dining and leisure hub.
“The precinct continues to gain momentum as a vibrant commercial and lifestyle destination, with a growing number of businesses choosing to base their operations out of the airport precinct due to its excellent amenity and connectivity.
“Skygate Home & Life will further strengthen this amenity for residents, visitors and workers,” Tormey said.
Nick Scali will occupy a prime 2,500 sqm showroom space, joined by James Lane, occupying a 920 sqm showroom, Lighting Illusions a 700 sqm showroom and Pillowtalk a 1,000 sqm showroom.
CBRE’s Damian Crocetti is handling the leasing and said only three showrooms remain, ranging from 460 sqm – 1,400 sqm.
