MIRVAC has commenced construction of The Eastbourne on the former Dallas Brooks Hall site.
Developed in partnership with Freemasons Victoria and designed in collaboration with Bates Smart, the 13-level building will comprise approximately 250 apartments as well as a new headquarters for Freemasons Victoria.
The demolition of the former Dallas Brooks Hall has been gradually completed since September last year, with ground works commencing this month.
Mirvac’s general manager of residential Victoria, Elysa Anderson, said the start of construction marked the beginning of a new story for this landmark site.
“The Eastbourne offers a rare chance for those wanting to claim an extraordinary address in East Melbourne, the most liveable suburb in the world’s most liveable city, and we are delighted to have reached this milestone together with Freemasons Victoria, marking a new era for this site,” Anderson said.
The construction commencement coincides with the 50th anniversary of the laying of the Dallas Brooks Hall foundation stone by Freemasons Victoria in 1967.
“The construction milestone is a celebrated date for Freemasons Victoria, who will see this site as their new headquarters, surrounded by the beauty of the gardens, timeless architecture, and immediate proximity to the best of Melbourne’s arts and culture,” Freemasons Grand Master Don Reynolds said.
