SKYCITY Entertainment Group has enticed Graeme Stephens from Sun International to become its new chief executive officer.
Stephens is the current CEO of the Johannesburg-listed casino, resorts and entertainment company Sun International, and will take up the role at SkyCity following Nigel Morrison’s resignation in April.
Stephens has been CEO of Sun International since 2013, and prior to that was senior vice president of new business development for Kerzner International over seven years.
SkyCity chairman Chris Moller said Stephens has extensive experience in developing and opening world-class casinos, hotels and resorts.
“His record managing a diverse and fast-growing listed company, operating in a variety of locations, makes Graeme the best person to lead SkyCity as we progress the New Zealand International Convention Centre and Hobson Street hotel projects, redevelop our Adelaide Casino and plan the next stage of SkyCity’s strategy,” he said.
Stephens is expected to begin in the role at the start of May next year, with interim CEO John Mortensen to remain in the role until then before taking up a senior group position with SkyCity.
