MULTIPLEX has reached a construction milestone on the $277 million St George Hospital redevelopment.
The eight-level Acute Services Building, built above the new emergency department will feature an intensive care unit, high dependency unit, cardiac intensive care unit, eight additional operating theatres, extra acute inpatient beds, a sterilising services department, and a new rooftop helipad.
“We are delighted to have topped out the new Acute Services Building on schedule. We have drawn on our specialist expertise in delivering complex high-quality health facilities within a live hospital environment,” Multiplex New South Wales regional director David Ghannoum said.
To date, a total of 10,000 cubic metres of concrete has been poured during construction, along with 800 tonnes of reinforcement and post tensioning cables cast within the slab.
Over 270,000 hours have been worked on the site to date and completion of the Acute Services Building is scheduled for completion by mid-2017.
