InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has expanded its Australasian development team with the appointment of Abhijay Sandilya as director.
Australasia & Japan head of development Matt Tripolone said the appointment reflects the significant growth opportunities that exist throughout the region and will ensure IHG’s aggressive development objectives are maintained.
“The appointment of Abhijay will allow us to focus on broader markets, strategic partner relationships and more complex management opportunities as they present themselves, ensuring IHG will continue to grow our hotel network in the region,” he added.
IHG has eight new build hotels either under construction or set to start work by the end of 2016 across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, including InterContinental Perth which is due to open in late 2017 and the Holiday Inn Express Brisbane in January 2017.
Tripolone said the second of a 15-hotel partnership with Pro-invest following the debut of the brand in Australia in April with the opening of Holiday Inn Express Sydney Macquarie Park.
