COLLIERS International has expanded its presence in the burgeoning childcare sector with the appointment of Brian McInally as associate director, transaction services.
McInally will lead the childcare property sector for Colliers nationally, working as part of the healthcare & retirement living (HRL) team.
“Childcare is a unique property class as it is spread across many sectors from retail to office and industrial,” McInally said. “By having a specialist in the sector, childcare operators will have access to a comprehensive range of opportunities, while investors looking to sell or lease a childcare asset will benefit from the expertise we have in the sector. We will also be able to assist developers looking to incorporate a childcare space, with advice on needs and features required right through to potential operators for the space,”
McInally said childcare in Australia has been on the national agenda for some time and is an important element in growing productivity.
“With around 1,000,000 children (Source: ABS) attending formal childcare each year, the Australian Children’s Education and Care Authority National Register shows there are more than 15,000 childcare centres across Australia.
“As a property class, childcare has previously fallen within other property sectors, but the rapid growth within the industry deems this will be a major opportunity for property investors and developers in future years,” McInally said.
