THE Australian Property Institute has paid tribute to one of the industry’s highly respected property professionals Peter Power, the Senior Vice President of the API Victoria Division, who recently passed away.
“It is with great sadness that I advise of the passing of Peter Power AAPI, following a short battle with cancer,” API Victorian Division President Aldo Galante said.
Power had been serving as the Senior Vice President of the API Victoria Division and was an Associate of the API. From 1993 to 2003, he served on the API Victorian Professional Development Committee, and spent two years as Chairman.
He also helped establish the State of the Market forum with the REIV and organised two state conferences.
He was elected to the Victorian Divisional Council in 2013 and served as the Senior Vice-President from 2014 and was the Chair of the Advocacy committee.
Power was a Director in the Real Estate Advisory practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and had over 30 years experience in real estate consulting, transaction and valuation.
He authored papers on various valuation subjects including gaming and hospitality and approaches to discount rate formulation for investment property. Power also provided guest lectures to students at Deakin University on discount rate theory for real estate valuation.
“On behalf of Divisional Council I offer sincere condolences to his wife Lynne and family,” Galante said.
API Chief Executive Officer Mike Zissler also paid tribute to Power.
“Although I had only know Peter for a short time his passion and commitment to the API was second to none and I admired his ability to get right to the heart of the issue right away. His passion will be missed,” Zissler said.
