LENDLEASE has lodged its first development application to the Western Australia Government’s Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority for the $1 billion urban regeneration project, Waterbank.
Spanning 6ha, Waterbank will transform a largely unused part of the city over six years period into a major mixed-use precinct.
The first application seeks approval for a 32-storey tower with 269 apartments and town house dwellings with by restaurants and retail at the ground floor.
Lendlease’s Urban Regeneration in Western Australia development director David Ockenden the company was excited to begin the next phase of Waterbank, which is Lendlease’s first major mixed-use urban development in Perth.
“The second application, in two parts, is for the Waterbank Sales and Information Centre that will sit on the banks of the Swan River and provide a place to visit and experience what is in store for Waterbank.
“Waterbank will importantly also set new standards in environmentally sensitive and sustainable development and this first building will be designed to achieve a Green Building Council of Australia 5 Star Green Star rating which represents Australian excellence.
“Lendlease expects to lodge its next round of Development Applications that will seek approval for the public areas of the site, within weeks. Works will commence early next year,” he concluded.
