CBRE has appointed Yvonne Siew to a newly created role as executive director, international capital, China – based in Shanghai.
Siew joined CBRE after a decade as head of the Asia real estate – investments department at Citi Private Bank and brings more than two decades of experience.
CBRE’s executive managing director of capital markets Mark Granter said the appointment comes as outbound investment from China continues to surge, with capital flows to global real estate have increased from US$1 billion in 2010 to US$10 billion in 2014. That momentum has continued into 2015, with US$4 billion in China outbound investment in Q1.
He added that Siew’s appointment would further strengthen CBRE’s ability to facilitate these capital flows and build on existing client relationships.
“Australia attracted 15% of the China outbound investment in commercial real estate last year last year and over one-quarter of the US$4 billion invested in Q1 2015. Yvonne’s appointment will ensure that we can continue to assist our growing Chinese client base and have the best platforms to continue to deliver advantage to our clients,” Granter said.
