THE Australian Property Institute NSW Division has elected George Vallas as the new state president.
Vallas is currently Director – Institutional Banking Real Estate at the Commonwealth Bank and has been a member of the API since 1996.
He has over 17 years’ experience in the finance and property industries across valuation, property development and real estate banking.
“I’m excited by the opportunity to take over the role of API NSW President at a pivotal point in the API’s history,” Vallas said. “I’m looking forward to working with the NSW Divisional Council to deliver quality member services, respond to relevant issues and promote the property profession,”
API NSW also made two appointments to the Divisional Executive team, Ian Muir, director, Muir Property Advisors, has been appointed senior vice president and Simon Gilkes, Valuer General, has been appointed junior vice president.
Muir has worked in the property industry for more than 35 years and in 2010 established Muir Property Advisors, a real estate consultancy practice providing strategic advice to the REIT sector and Colliers International. He has been a member of API since 1980.
Gilkes has over 30 years’ experience providing and directing a broad range of property valuation, analysis and advice. In recent years he has led substantial improvements to the NSW statutory valuation system through the implementation of new processes, services, products and technologies supported by enhanced performance monitoring. He is currently acting in the role of Valuer General and has been an API member since 1988.
Meanwhile the immediate past president, Tyrone Hodge, Director, Valuations & Advisory at JLL, remains a member of the Divisional Executive and still serves as National Senior Vice President.
