UEM Sunrise has appointed Probuild to build the Aurora Melbourne Central project, which will be the tallest residential tower in the CBD.
The 92-level residential development is UEM Sunrise’s first project in Australia and when it is complete, it will consist 941 apartments and 250 serviced apartments.
The building will be the only residential development to provide direct access to Melbourne’s underground rail loop, via Melbourne Central railway station. There is also 3,097 sqm of retail space as well as 3,848 sqm of office space.
Probuild managing director Simon Gray said following this appointment, the construction group has secured five landmark contracts to build residential or mixed use developments in the Melbourne CBD or city fringe in the last few months.
“Probuild is currently constructing some of the Melbourne CBD’s tallest residential towers, including Victoria One, Abode318 and Empire Melbourne. Aurora Melbourne Central will add yet another striking element to the city centre.
“Aurora Melbourne Central presents an exciting opportunity for Probuild to construct an iconic building that will become an instantly recognisable feature of the Melbourne skyline,” Gray said.
Demolition on the site is scheduled to start mid-year.
